modify wheel arch in tub

Dont know if its possible or if anyone else has done it but Im thinking of removing the wheel arch's inside the tub, they take up alot of room and get in the way. If i were to cutout the arch and weld up flat sheets of metal would the tyre hit this newly fabricated area? The car is a standard height, dual cab sr5 and seems like the tyres now wouldn't even go near to it.

Yes it will, you can limit the up travel to prevent this though. Why not fit a tray?

Do you do 4x4? Shorely you have seen how far the wheels go up in those wheel arches.
Buy a tray.

Anyone know the measurement from center of hub to the steel tray floor?
I've spent alot on canopy and gear up for it and dont want to change to steel tray.

Could trim the width of the arch depending on what offset your rims are? Otherwise bodylift blocks will allow you to trim the height of the arch.

50mm body lift = 50mm off the arch..

There'll be no one measurement for that. Depends on tray builder, weight of tray and stuff in it and any suspension sag. A tray could get mounted any height you like.

I reckon you could trim the top of the arch. before I put my tray on, I compared the arch height and the max possible suspension compression and found a decent amount of difference.

I say go for it..
after all, new tubs aren't that expensive
