Having Custom Rear Bar Fabricated

Hi All!

Does anyone know how thick the steel and bar used for the Kaymar rear bars for a 98 HiLux?

As the title suggests I'm planning to have a custom rear bar made, and since I was told that the Kaymar rear bars protect your vehicles, I was thinking of using the same steel and bar thickness they use. That should be more than enough to protect me from nature & other drivers, correct?
