Show us your Rock Sliders

Bull bars, sliders, wheel carriers etc!

Makes sense, blkrota. It wouldn't be too often someone got stuck with steps though i'd assume?

That's my concern too, in regards to the step - my misses has a bad back and loves the step, don't want her struggling to climb into the car once I get it lifted.
Cheers,
Jay

Yeah, you gotta decide what your car is set up for. If its serious wheeling then a set of sliders are necessary, but if you won't be crossing serious terrain then a steel step will be fine. It's about tossing up between what your car needs to cross the terrain your set out to do,

Not so much stuck, i meant more grabbing and collecting mud.

Dont get me wrong , the ARB steps work great on some utes i have seen go up some hard and tight tracks i wouldnt try with my shiny paint,,,, yet.

Bouncy off trees and rocks and didnt come out with a mark.

Sliders are like having two parralell bars along your chassie rails that are slightly lower (hence more protection). Then have a look under some ARB ones or any steps when you get a chance.

this is just personel choice and how hard your going to drive you ute. I want push my hilux till it breaks , then fix it and upgrade it.
Solid steps will be fine if your not bashing your hilux.

Hmmm decisions, decisions. I'll probably end up with the sliders after a while I think, I do plan on eventually giving it a bit of a hard time. Thanks for the info.
Cheers,
Jay

Just wondering what people are using for the "C" brackets to mount them on the chassis? Are you guys just making them yourself out of three bits of flat steel or can you buy the bracket?

Beautiful! Gonna take my steps off tomorrow and start measuring them up and get the steel first thing next week.

Any little tips and tricks of what people and did and should have done looking back?

I've already said it but make sure you don't build them too close to your sill. The body is on rubber blocks and will vibrate against them if they are too close. 5mm isn't enough clearance... Just sayin lol

I used 12mm flat bar. 5mm I would say is a little thin. Maybe 8mm would be a minimum.

Yep i had to find some rubber and jam it in between my sliders and sill on a recent trip due to this as the cab flexes so much, and even more so with passengers in the rear seats.. check your clearances with people in the back..
I fitted mine and had no issues only to find my kids jumped in the rear seats on the weekend after and heard this allmighty scratchin/cracking sound....... I knew straight away what it was.. they were adjusted asap..... Every time i use the highlift with them they move alittle as well.
But the do look neater tucked up high.

So how far do yours sit from your sill now that you have adjusted them?

I called Superior Engendering the other day and they are about to start building Stealth Rock Sliders for the Hilux.

They are by far the best looking and possibly the strongest design available thus the $1,155 price tag.

I have already found 2 people interested in a set and I am trying to round up more and do a group buy.

Let me know who's keen...

Here is a link to the pics.
