Buying a Used ARB Deluxe Bars

Postby MattFOX97 on Sat, 17 Mar 2018 12:58 +0000

Hi Guys,

I just recently purachased a 2012 Red Toyota Hilux Sr5 and I am looking at putting a Bullbar on asap. However, prices for a new bar are extremely high. I recently found a ARB Deluxe Bar up for sale. I linked the photos below.

I guess can anyone give me advice? Is everything there? Where do i find self install instructions?

Sorry for the stupid questions, but this looks good and is a much cheaper alternative. Thanks

Where are all the under and wing panels, mounting hardware and brackets?

Buying a Used ARB Deluxe Bars

I’m with toyzx here.
I don’t see a single under panel (there should be 4)
Fog light inserts are missing.
No pictures of any of the mounting hardware
The top eyebrow molds are heat stressed and warped.
Here is a helpful hint in all likely hood you are missing something major.
And most arb stores will warm you that buying every individual part by part gets super expensive super quick. (Those fog light parts are around $100 alone without the lights which are another $100ish)
You can purchase a full fit fit which is your cheapest option usually. Generally speaking looking at $500-600 for the fit kit. And be prepared to wait you could be sitting around looking at a bar that you can’t fit for a couple months waiting on the fit kit to turn up.

Then there is the matter that this bar has been pre-pinned to a different chassis. So when you go to mount it up your pinning Point is likely going to be different. This means you may be drilling a very close hole to pin the bar. If it’s really close could mean you now have a elongated hole rather then a pinning hole. End result the bar will move in an impact.

Be warned ebay finds are not always what you expect. These are a technical product and need to be done right. Installed incorrectly and something horrible happens you are liable as the fitter.

X2! I wouldn't buy a second hand one full stop. I seen a ute come thru the smash side of our shop that had been in a accident. Whoever fitted the bullbar used a 12mm drill bit to pin the bar, the insurance guy seen it and they knocked him back as they must be drilled to 10mm. I would imagine if he seen two sets of holes in there he'd rub his hands together and walk away with ya cash.

Thanks for the advice guys. I’m going to sit on it and buy a new bar. I heard they offer pretty good deals at 4x4 expos, so I will definetly be going to the next one in NSW.

You often get great deals at expos and open days.
I believe Rosehill 4x4 show is about a month away (Sydney)
Also if your keen and mechanically minded. Most stores will drop a little off the price in a supply situation. Because they make a couple grand in a few min work and keep a fitting slot free. Can’t hurt to ask.

Yeah Myralga that’s what I heard ! My mate picked up a TJM Deluxe bar with scrub bars for $1800 installed at the event up in Newcastle. I’ll definitely be on the look out for a new bar and lift!
