Cheaper bullbar over the big names

Postby bennyfica on Tue, 20 Feb 2018 3:08 +0000

Has anybody gone the cheaper bullbar options over the big ones. For example Ocam industries, Powerful 4x4, Protector 4x4. If so, happy with results or wish you'd coughed up the extra cash? Looking for a winch bar that does the job without breaking the bank - or better to get a 2nd handy or hit up the wreckers?

I have a Powerful 4x4 one. Cheaper and you can tell, but it works and has survived so far.

It works? As in it held up in a bingle, or it works to hold your aerial and spotties?

Fits, looks OK, has front tow hitch holes and has a winch mount. Powder coat has held up but you can tell it’s cheaper construction, BUT they are only about $700 or so.

I have OCAM, still happy with it. Would have preferred ARB, but I can buy 4 OCAM’s and still have money in my pocket. Few minor installation issues but nothing significant. Don’t like the gap under the radiator but I’ll fill that in. It does limit the types of recovery point that can be fitted because of the angle brackets.
Prefer to buy [emoji1037] and will pay a bit of a premium for it, but I think the days of 300% markup are over.

That's good to hear. Just ordered a MCC falcon front bar. 10 week wait from Taiwan.

All my bar work is no named and from ebay or a warehouse. I cannot justify paying 2-3 times more for the same thing from a big named company that's just my personal opinion from my experience. Feel free to check out my build and my shed for pics and prices
