Arb Install $1000

Postby rockferry on Mon, 30 May 2016 1:37 +0000

Hey Guys,

I have read a fair bit on here I am wanting to get a arb delux bar for my 2015 hilux(old shape) is it literally a bolt on job? As the bar going to cost me $2500 and the arb agent wants $900 to fit it. Does anyone know if it is a straight bolt on, and modifications? drilling, cutting, grinding or welding?

cheers

You will be cutting your inner plastic guards. Not much else. It will come with instructions and a template. I personally fitted my tjm bar a few months back. 4hrs tops

Why don't you run around to different shops? like Ironman ect? get them to price match or something?

knowing the markup on those things you could get them fitted for the list price

Not cutting on the deluxe bar at all except for your inner guard. Its definitely a bolt on unit. 4hrs tops is about rite for any car ( I'm a fitter for arb) I don't do any of the pricing but I don't think 900 is rite, I would have said half that!

This sales bloke is taking you to the cleaners. No way is that $900 real for a fitting price. I have just come back from ARB MacArthur where I have dropped off my lux (also 2015 old shape) for the full barwork and snorkel. The fitting for the deluxe winch bar on its own is $440. I'd go to another shop!

Unfortunately thats what its like in NZ the all the dealerships are like to be honourst, pants down and how much would you like SIR!! LOL Am orignally from liverpool in the UK so am tighter than 2 coats of paint! Tjm in Auckland was that bad to deal with, that I call a different branch and the director phoned me back to say the reason why i got bad service in auckland was that they don't deal with the general public...and then proceeded to give me a "RUN OUT PRICE" that was more exspensive than the Arb

Back to the Bar, so I can unbolt the bumper and pretty much assembly the bar and bolt it on. so if i went to sell the truck then I could remove and bolt on the old bumper and no issues?

The 2 branches in auckland one said takes a full day so $900+gst and the other said its a day and a half!!

looks like am going to install it myself?

And tips like disconnect the battery for sense etc?

Cheers Guys

Yes sir, the job is fully reversible. Like i said get a couple of mates follow the instructions and you'll be sweet. The wiring could be tricky if ya no good with that kind of stuff? You could upgrade to led parker/blinker unit then you wont need to run a relay set to run the lights in the bar. While you have it apart, pull the headlights out to do ya wiring (heaps easier!)Can't believe they say it's a full day job! The lux would have to be one of the easiest to fit a bar to of all the makes! Shoot me a pm if ya need any info.

Ahh, I didn't know you were in NZ. The prices I gave you were for Australia. Everything is more expensive over in NZ, sadly.

As for fitting time, I was quoted two days for bullbar, side steps, side rails, fog lights and snorkel. Seems fair enough if the snorkel is thrown in there as well. Picking mine up tomorrow, hope it goes well!
