Dual cab tray mounts

Postby tomomatt on Wed, 06 May 2015 5:23 +0000

Hi all
Currently building a tray for my 2014 sr dual cab
Now the front mounts are lower than the rear
But how much ??

I have had people say it's 15mm and others say it's 25mm want to buy the steel for my cross members before I take off the tub because once I take the tub off I can't go and get the right steel if I did buy the wrong stuff

When you have build your tray what did you find

Thanks

I usually build the tray, then pull the tub off and build the mounts on the ute. Then ya just have to sit the tray on, square it all up with the cab etc, tack it together and pull it back off to finish the welding. Just my 2c but seems to be the easiest method I've found.

im also just about to build a tray and was wondering if you guys that have done it used rubber or nolathane bushes between your chassis and bearers, or did you just go straight steel on steel?
ive got 75x75 rhs for my bearers so i might need to raise them up a little to clear my tires.
Also how have you guys mounted your runners to the chassis? did you make feet or just drill through and bolt the bearers directly to the mounts (obviously with some packers for the front mounts)
cheers,
shaun

steel on steel is the way to go.

You will need to lift the try above the chassis to get adequate clearance for the wheels. Best to put a flat foot on the mount to spread the load over the vehicle mount plates.

My tray is a fair way into the build
I have outer frame and rear of tray finished and the tray has its chassis rails I just wasn't sure on the difference for the front mounts

I will be pulling tub off in the next week or so to mount tray and shape head board
