DIY ironman bull bar install trouble

Postby keleher on Fri, 17 Apr 2015 12:45 +0000

Hi all
Just got a new bull bar and thought I would do a dummy run before i took off my old one and luckily I did because I'm not 100% on where a few bits go. The instructions that came with it are rubbish, it is a photo from 2 meters away on a crap angle saying "assemble with hardware provided" and the mounting bracket in the picture is different. There is also washers between the brackets in the photo but I only have enough for 2 per bolt?

I emailed ironman and the place I got it only to be sent the same crap instructions every time.
Just wondering if anyone with an ironman bar is willing to take a pic of where it mounts/brackets go on the chassis? Could try organise some sort of payment for your trouble.

Cheers

Sweet thanks a heap for that mate. Managed to get it on over the long weekend thanks to your pics. Should send them to ironman to replace their crap instructions. If there is anything I can help you out with or send your way let me know.

I would contact Ironman and give them some suggestions of how they could improve their instructions, I have a mate who is the store manager of the one over here in WA and all the stuff I've got from him has had really good instructions :S. maybe they haven't updated the bullbar ones for a while?

Hi just recently installed my ironman bullbar and have 4 large nut bolt and washer sets left over and 2 of the small black ones left over. I think i know where the large ones go, thinking they go where instructions tell you to drill 2 holes in bar mount however i just cant see me getting the drill into that tight spot and surely 3 on each side will be enough.
Now the 2 black ones possibly from the skid plates but i only have 2 holes left and they will not go there see pics.

Have i also installed the middle plate correctly there is no other way i can see it fitting.

The instructions are crap! Most of it is about painting and the pictures are of the old mounting kit

Drilling those holes is a pain in the ass if you don't have a 90 deg drill. I managed to drill 1 in each side but ended up taking them out as the guy at the 4x4 shop said they don't even install them because if you hit something it will let you bar move a bit before the crush tubes get stuffed.

Those black ones for the skid plate will fit just put your bar on a bit more of an angle upwards.

Just bought my Ironman bar and should be here next week

Handy knowing some guys didn't drill those holes as they look like a prick to install
