2010 pre & post face lift Bull Bar Compatibility

Postby WhiteDC2 on Tue, 28 Jan 2014 1:13 +0000

Hi guys,

I'm looking at upgrading from my 2010 Xtra Cab to a new dual cab and was hoping I could transfer some of the accessories over. I hope to transfer my 2010 ARB Deluxe winch bar (flare model) to a 2013 Hilux as it's the most expensive item. Does anyone know if this is possible?

A search of the forum ("ARB bull bar model compatibility" etc) and good old Google didn't find anything definitive.

Thanks in advance,

Troy.

Hey Troy

I used to work for East Coast Bullbars. Having a little bit to do with the R n D department i do remember that the chassis rail had little to no change between models. (All our mounts welded on the bars were the same distance apart) i do remember a change mainly with the added flares under the headlights possibly between 2010 onwards models. Not sure about the ARB bars though. Hope this helps

2010 and 2013 have different grill/headlights so im not sure if it will work or not they have a different part number for a deluxe bar for a pre 2012 and post 2012.. best bet is to call up and ask

I think it will have a slightly larger gap between the headlight and the bar,
it looks like the newer bar sweeps upward on the sides vs the flater older bar due to the larger style lights on the older model vs smaller lights on the facelift.

Its probably not much of an issue.

i Could be wrong

Thanks for the replies, the headlight spacing is my primary concern also. I've sent ARB an email and I'm awaiting a response; I will post the answer if they get back to me.

I only picked up on the change when i went to mount my uhf antenna on the top "flat" plate.

It was not usable without a wedge under the base of the spring.

Hi Troy, different bars unfortunately. Following the facelift, the new bar incorporates a new wing profile (to match updated grille and headlight design), different fit kit (which is about $900 to purchase separately) and different underwing panels.

Whilst you could potentially make it fit with some customisation, I think in the end, you'd be far happier with the finish of a new bar.

You could always try and sell the current bar and put the money towards a new one.

Cheers, Sam.

Hi Troy,

2011 was when Toyota released the facelift so if you're referring to the pre-facelift model, the 2005 bar will fit straight up.

If it’s the post facelift bar that you're referring to, then it’s a different bar. In this instance, the actual mounts are the same but it’s a different bar due to changes in the bumper profile.

Cheers, Sam.

Does you 2010 have the large bonnet scoop?? If so then yes, if not then yours is pre face lift and it wont fit.

Have a look at the scoop, if it has 3 holes and is off center on the bonnet then its pre facelift and that bar won't fit. If its got 4 holes and is centered on the bonnet then its the facelift model and the bar will fit.

to Clarify this topic I just found a pre facelift alloy bar 2006 is a reasonable fit on a 2013 facelift model.
I was surprised how close the light shapes were. the fender gap is the main issue and can be solved with an infill panel. you could cut the std plastic bumper and use that like they do with steel bars.

aftermarket steel bars should work well going from old to new model but not the other way if the fender gap is tight without the need for an infill.

The ones with no scoop are the petrol V6 models.

When I bought my cheapy bar for 2005-2011 it came with black plastic bits for under the headlights. It also fits a 2012-2015, and for this they provided some stick on templates to stick onto the plastic bumper and then use as a template where to cut out pieces of the plastic to use between the headlights and the bar. So that tells me they are essentially identical across the rails and under the grille plus at the guard flares, just the lights are a different shape.

I can confirm the pre facelift bar fits the mounting points on a 2014 KUN26R, but there is a large gap on the wings. I bought a second hand Aluminium "Forge" bullbar from market place. The Seller convinced me it was off his 2012 Hilux that parked in the driveway. I fitted the bar, it is a pre 2011 bar, I'm chasing the seller to get my money back. It aligns with the mounting brackets, but has the uneven gap under the headlights, and a huge gap on the wing joints.
This is the first bullbat I've ever bought, a few lessons learned; never buy a bull bar after dark, otherwise I would have seen the little compliance plate saying "2005 model onward...".
