Canopy, Outback draws and a 60lt fridge

Postby Aquaholics on Tue, 24 Dec 2013 11:07 +0000

Hi all,

I am looking at fitting a Razorback canopy, Outback draws with a sliding deck with an ARB 60lt fridge on a drop down fridge slide. The question is as the outback draws with sliding deck are half decks not a full sliding deck it restricts the location of the fridge slide. Does anyone have the above setup and does the fridge clear the canopy ok on the sliding deck?

I was in ARB today and they advised the above wont work with an ARB canopy and that I need to ditch the sliding deck or go with a Black Widow draw system.

Cheers
Ben

They just want your money!! I don't have a outback system but check the height of the drawers and your fridge and see the opening size with the canopy.. You can make anything work with out spending big bucks. Do your research and calculations n I'm shore it will fit. ARB just want to sell the product and know no other brand.
All the best!
Cheers, Stuart

I have a half hight sliding draw/floor with a 60ltr waco mounted straight to it, these are a tall fridge and i have heaps of room, unless the drop slide will add a lot of height i can't see why it wouldn't work given the ARB fridge is a lot lower profile than mine. You may find it was the canopy they had an issue with and wanted to sell you theirs instead of the razor one
Like Stu said just measure all the heights and give it a go

Thanks for the reply guys. My local ARB guys are really good and it wasn't a push towards buying their canopy (as they know it wont work with an ARB canopy) it was their experience they were sharing from when they set up the store managers Hilux.

Sorry I wasn't clearer, it was the fridge hitting the side of the canopy not the roof that was their issue. They found with the sliding deck it restricts where the fridge slide goes, they mounted the slide right on the inside edge of the outback sliding deck half and found the 60lt fridge hit the side of the canopy. They ripped out the outback draws and put in a black widow system with the full deck slide to fix their issue.

I will have a look at the specs and see what I can nut out but I thought I would see if someone has the same setup I am looking at to confirm it will work.

Cheers

I have a "genuine Toyota" (read ARB) canopy on my Hilux with standard height Outback drawers mounted over a tub liner, DR40 drop down fridge slide and Waeco CFX40 fridge. I mounted the slide centred over one drawer and all is fine. The fridge slide doesn't add too much to the height at all and I have plenty of clearance all round. I will take some photos in the morning and post them for info.
