Nah that doesn't work with the 2005 sr. It's a hook bracket that I have. I tried turning it around but hits tailgate

Well I brought the brackets off toyota. They cost 22 each and took a week to get it from Sydney. Screw them on to the bottom hole and put a series 500 in the bottom. Works like a gem

I bought SR5 striker plates from Just Hilux a few weeks ago for about $15 ea.
havnt got around to bolting the bottom of the strikers yet, maybe tonight..
Has been working well though.

hikux_bondy when you flipped the strikers, was there an existing hole for the bottom bolt? Also it looks like the surface is uneven, did you pack out the top bolt with washers etc?

apologies just realised that you already noted that you used series 500 tech screws! Still curious about how you got the bracket to sit flat..

They look like generic door latches, got 2 on my work mitsi van. Go to a wrecker....

I brought mine from toyota. Wrecker was over priced

Hey sorry for digging up an old thread but has anyone gone the other way and put an Sr tailgate a sr5 tub? My Sr tub is buggered and im looking at getting a sr5 tub cheap but the tailgate isn't nearly as good as mine and I was hoping to keep the Sr gate til I find a better replacement.

I'm assuming if you can put a sr5 gate on Sr tray it should work the other way round

Cool thing with the SR5 gate on a SR tub is you can fit central locking...... (got pictures of it in the garage)

I found I had to drill one hole for the strikers to mate up on the SR5 tub. Going SR5 back to an SR should be achievable....

does anyone know if the tailgate from a late model sr5 (2017) will fit onto a 2008 sr5 tub?

Is there much benefit from the SR5 tub except for aesthetics? I would have bought the SR instead but was told they didnt have any stock.

I assume the only way to lock the SR5 tailgate on the SR would be to wire up the central locking since the SR key won't work. Unless you get a key cut to match the SR5 key, which will probably mean you can drive away with that SR5 too so unlikely to be allowed by the owner!
