hi all
just looking for anyones opinion/experience with lightbars.
i amlooking at some on ebay and they have led or cree bulbs are they the same thing
i have a torch with cree bulb and it is awsome 800lm.
there are also some with spot beam in middle and wide beam on each side i have a set of hid
driving lights (roolight) am i better off just getting a spread beam.
has anyone bought a set off ebay i am looking at the 22" version.

Both are LED's, both have different uses. CREE is best used in houses for down lighting.

Not all lightbars are the same, LED used, reflectors, beam pattern, power efficency, water/dust/vibration proof/resistant.

Most LED lightbars range will be 300-400m, the cheaper ones will just look bright.

Get what you pay for.

Hit up new pro tech they are a forum sponsor. I have a 10" Newpro dual row and 2x rigid industries Dually's both work very well but not the cheapes lights on the market. The big thing with led's is what grade led is used new pro and rigid use very high quality therefore cost a bit more but it is quality. The ones that look the same rigid, new pro aroura all use the same body just diff LEDs so it really is up to your budget.
Cheers Cooper.

I have a Tigerz11 22" light bar (free with the still to come roof top tent) teamed up with a set of HIDs. The light bar gives excellent spread of light in the standard high beam range and the HIDs give me the distance. I think the Light bar normally is around the $300 mark and is 80 watts. I would imagine the more expensive ones use newer technology and give better distance. I'm figuring that the LED will be great for driving on bush tracks.

Hey Mut, a mate and I were very interested in the Tigerz11 22" led light bars.
Especially after the video showing one run over and one submerged in water.
I like the idea of getting HIDs however I was wondering if I might be able to get away with just a light bar as most of my driving is on country roads (a lot of winding roads).
Was wondering what sort of range you are seeing with it . Was hoping to maybe get away with highbeam and LED bar?
I realize both HID and Lightbar an ideal mix but was trying to keep costs down.
With the price of $299 they are a tempting bit of gear.

Sorry Obiee, not trying to take over the thread

Cheers

I'v been looking for ages on eBay for a good light bar and came across one
Type lb40 light bar
It has 5 year warranty and I recon it would be a good light but haven't bought one yet though

After alot of torture testing we soon discovered that the cheapies although look good and are reasonably bright they dropped led's after some corrugated roads, not a big issue i suppose but when you can't open them to replace them it becomes a pain. Also the water rating is terrible.

We ended up going with an IP68 waterproof rated lightbar running 5w cree led's and are a real solid unit that will stand up to alot more than the cheapies just ask Flat out offroad racing on here who runs 3 of them on different cars.

We are also developing an even better range at the moment and hopefully the price will stay the same or maybe even come down a touch.

Yeh mate it goes from under the bonnet then under and up between the cab and canopy there is a section about 200mm long on too of the roof before it is attached to the roof rails and rack.
If your cable is small enough you could run it in the rails where the roof rack is bolted to.
Let me know if you need pics.
