Pretty sure qwerty has that same unit mentioned above and mounted the bulky bit under the dash. I have gone under the drivers seat myself but there is plenty of options.

Finally got around to getting some pics guys. This is how I mounted it on the nudge bar and inside using the clip and some double sided tape.

just re: the nudge bar mount. I actually mounted the aerial on a piece of aluminium and mounted that where the nudge bar actually mounts onto the car. Reason being is i wanted to have the aerial sitting a little lower and also leave room for the 22 inch light bar i just bought which is going to sit on top of the nudge bar. Thanks for all your help guys!

double sided tape? probably won't last long mate! I screwed mine in, very sturdy.

Also looks lik eyou're blocking access to a very useful storage hole nextd to the HVAC controls?

Yeah with the double sided tape was just a test to see if it holds as I didnt want to go drilling into the new lux :) she's been in the sun 40 degree days etc and is still stuck on tight after probably a month or so (took me a while to get these pics up). The clip is held with tape both on the side and on the bottom.

Re blocking storage, yes it does block that storage, but I dont really need it. I just find it sits in a really neat position and is easily accessible.

bit pricey but perfect fit and no holes to drill

We got these series of photos while driveing along the Finke Rd. Note the camera was on a fst shot mode so the frames are fractions of a second apart. Compared to the thicker GSM antenna next to it, you can see why the light ones snap.

This is an enlightening post! I've lost a couple of s/s antennas from the front bar as well as the stinger off a short Terlin. I knew the bar moved a bit but this really shows how much!

Both my UHF and VHF antennas are now on 'fender mounts' and the only antenna on the front bar's the large HF Terlin on the heavy duty spring...but only because there was no other option ;)

Agree with the above, great little animation from lmichie.

I'm currently kitting out my 'Lux with a few antennas (DAB+, AM/FM, UHF) and was wondering whether I'm boned in terms of using the side-wings as the mounting points.

I've currently used those Aerpro wrap-around clamps/mounts but as my bar from ARB has a pretty high curve at the wings, these tilt in very severely (below, if you can make it out).

Was thinking about tapered washers (bought some with an 8° curve) but then there's a question of having enough thread to secure the spring-base.

I've upgraded uhf to a heavy duty uniden jobby, 6.6dbi with smaller 3db for around town and to still fit in car port. Comes as a twin pack.

Cheers Qwerty. Apologies, should've been clearer.

My issue is that my side-wings tilt upward, meaning the wrap-around mounts tilt as well. Ergo, my aerials tilt inward quite severely. With the smaller aerials it's not bad but once I mount a 1m aerial, it's a ridiculous angle (instead of being |, it's /).

Your aerials are straight up - guessing your bar is an even plane across the board?

hmm I see what you mean ... mine can look a little "on the piss" from certain angles, mainly in the cabin, but not too bad.

yes i think mine has an even plane overall

Any suggestions for keeping it tight on the bullbar? Got my RFI CD5000 yesterday, bit surprised it didn’t come with locking or spring washer. Has anyone had issues with them coming loose?

Ive got the RFI CD5000 and am impressed with how robust it is.
Did the CSR with with quick connector base and antenna holding firm the entire trip.
However, I had to drill and tap a 6mm bolt into the bottom of the UHF tab mount that wraps around the bullbar as the 2 tension screws kept vibrating loose.

So no washer on yours DB? My antenna mounts are welded to the bar so that won’t be a problem.

Nope
No washer. I did buy the right size open spanners to do it up tight.
My adjustable spanners wont quite fit in the recess spaces due to the jaws being too wide

Good point. I’ll thread the cable through a ring spanner and do it up first.
