Rear Window Glass Options

Postby StevenS on Sat, 24 Mar 2012 10:04 +0000

I have a 2005 single cab SR 4x4 and the rear window glass (no demister bars) fogs up terribly in wet weather or even just on cold nights.

Are there any any aftermarket options or other solutions for fitting a window glass with demister bars in there? Seems to be a pretty annoying design fault.

I've seen demister type glass on ebay but it specifies it's for the dual cab so I'm not sure whether the glass would be a slightly different shape or not.

Cheers

You can buy a product from Repco which has anti fogging properties. Wipe it on, then wipe it off.

Hey StevenS,
you can also purchase stick on demisters, just need to wire it in.

Unfortunately the heater doesn't really reach the rear window unless it's on full blast, and the ambient temp is still far too high for using the heater.

Might have to go with the anti-fog stuff

You don't have to run the heater at all, just as long as the aircon is on the problem's solved

Are you sure your air-cons working, might need regassing.
The funniest part about you reading my signature is that by the time you read the whole thing from start to finish you only then realise there is nothing interesting in it.

Stop the heavy breathing.

I have never had a problem in my dual cab, have never even used th rer demister so your single cab should work even better?? Are you sure your A/C is working properly?
Does not matter if you are running hot or cold, the A/C should take the moisture out of the air
On the internet you can be anything you want. It is strange that so many people choose to be stupid!

You could try a rear windscreen wiper, you can get aftermarket ones for tractors so they should be available for cars too.

I was looking into that, as it also gets very hard to see out of when raining.

Would require a bit of custom work though. Might give that RainX stuff a go see how long it lasts

Yeah if it's in the outside rainx is what you'd want. Not the fogx.
