Not a bad option there Claude. Sa_lux the rear seat mod is a winner however I can't put max trax behnd there as im rolling a child seat which is a bitch to take out any time I go off road. So its external for me. Each to their own I guess.

I thought of putting them behind the rear seats too but after using a mates set in the mud a while ago, I wouldn't want them back in the car until they were hosed off!
Cheers Claude

Fair point sa_lux.

Second that CRA59!!!

I tend to have a full back seat when I need to take the maxxtrax with me.
The racks are not on there all the time.
I have a locking cable to secure them if there is any risk of losing them.
After using them in the mud lately, they are definitely not going back inside...

Good to see other guys ideas coming out too.

Mine were external on the two occasions I have used them in mud, but after a good wash & dry over a few days back behind the seat.

I also added a 3-4 mtr piece of rope to each so you can 'haul' them back out of the mud without joining them :)

Sorry to kick off an old thread but ..... Tred recovery track mounts/rack, who has built there own mounting system? While I am in the mood for fabricating I might knock up a new rack for my 2 sets. I am going to be mounting them on my rhino trade rack and I have a basic idea on what I am going build , just interested to see what is out there to borrow some ideas. :)

Cheers

When I get a chance I will show you a photo of my mod, unfortunately im at work (hardly working)...

I actually fitted mine to the tail gate of the car. I used 10mm thread serts... drilled and pressed them into the tail gate as they install similar to a rivet does. then cut down four 10mm stainless threaded bar and inserted them into the new threads. Put a SS nyloc on the threaded bar to lock it into place.
Then you have four mounting points for the racks which I just use a washer and a wing nut to hold them into place.

Theyre solid, no rattle and easy to get at when required. Plus due to the fact I have a tonneau cover they are always out of the sun which will prolong the life.

If anyone has an account with blackwoods this kit helps massively when you want to get creative with mods. I have used it for the following:
Mount my compressor in my tray
mount a toolbox and latching kit
Mount my rhino racks
Mount a homemade bracket for my aux battery

The possibilities are endless

Cheers for the tip, this may be an idea the only issue is I can't fit them in on the inside off my tailgate due to my drawer set up but as I now own a nutsert kit it opens up many options. Be good to see that pic when you get a chance.

Inside the tail gate is also a bummer if you use the tail gate for a table, which I do. Can also be in the way loading and unloading, unless you unhook the cables and drop the gate down to near vertical.

This is why I have mounted mine - nowhere  Yet !

I ratchet strap mine to the sports bar. Its sits nicely with a good aerodynamic angle.

I've got roof racks but the spacing is all wrong for the maxtrax mounting kit to work.

G'Day Scott

I like this idea :)

Especially as I often drive with the tail gate down, helps to hold in 'stuff' & its easier to get to than behind the rear seat !!!

See the black box around ??? in the photo ???

sa_lux.... That is another mount I made which is for my mountain bike.
There is a nylon bar inside the stainless bracket which is the same dimensions of my front wheel hub. Therefore when I want to transport my bike I take off the front wheel, remove the quick release bolt, place on this bracket and re-insert the quick release...

It holds my bike up dead straight and leaves plenty of room in the tub for other toys :D :D Its really quick and easy and looks good too. I have had a few guys stop and ask about it when I pull up at the mtb trails here in Mackay

Its handy working in maintenance... the possibilities are endless
