yea true, i thought the buds ones looked sweet and was going to go with those.

but when a mate tells you he will weld you custom ones, you cant say no.

Your so rite these sliders and brush bars will finish the bar work off nicely 50mm.

Just beare in mind if your doing brush bars you might want to use 40mm NB to match up with the stardard 40mm NB used on most bullbars.

As for materials used

I used 50x50 4 mm wall rhs 2000mm long for the beam along the sill, then 40mm NB(3.2mm wall) for the bar work and chassis plate joiners,I made up L brakets out of 5mm stainless then test fitted them at the chassis mount locations on the chassis, then welded a plate to that to get the U shapped bracket width correct as the chassis isnt uniform 100mm all the way along the length of the car.
Be careful on the passenger side your rear mount doesnt rub on the fuel tank,i fitted a peice of rubber between the tank and the mount plate to eliminate this, and you will find you'll need to drop the fuel tank to fit sliders on the passenger if you chassis mount them.

Then fitted 1.6 alloy tread plate via rivets and radius ed it around the tube to finish it off.

Hey guys, will be making some of these in the comig weeks. Just wondering, what kind of gap did you leave between the top of the slider and the sill? Just in case the slider does bend a bit so it doesn't crush the sill aswell? Thanks.

Aim for at least 5mm because the body is mounted on rubber blocks and will move about. Found that out the hard way :P

Hey Guys, these are my rock sliders/scrub bars i got a mate to bend up for me. Made the sliders wider than your usual set to future proof them if i ever wish to put some ally checker plate ontop so they become more of a slider/side step. (something that i am looking at doing now). Also left some clearance in the scrub bars so that again i can fit flares to the lux at a later date. got plenty of distance between the bar to fit standard SR5 flares without touching and without touching with normal flex.

The bars have a smaller sleeve style tube welded to the bull bar that the scrub bar slides over and has a high tensile bolt through to keep in place. ( I didnt like the look of the clamp and my brother's lux has had the clamp bend very easily under pressure)

The kit is painted black for the time being as the front bull bar is going to be redone in black to match.... ive got a family powdercoating factory at my disposal.... :D

Probably the only thing i would do differently next time is not mount them so high as the blinkers are a bit hidden.

let me know what you think....

yeah, thats why i though i should ask. Im usually pretty good at finding things out the "hard way". its a very expensive and frustrating lesson most times. haha
thanks

Aim for 1/2 inch gap between sill and slider. I made mine with a 5mm gap, they were fine most of the time, but when I had someone sitting in the back of the extra cab the sill hit the sliders. Very time consuming to cut them off and fix my mistake

hi guys, here are mine

Bending the pipe

Cutting some notches

before welding

What I done was make the brackets and then bolted them to the cars chassis before welding them. As I didn't know if I wanted steps or sliders. I used a couple of jackstands and some bricks to see what they looked like and when in place I tack welded them.

steps

or sliders

I went with the sliders

Pretty happy how they turned out.

They look really good. That's what I was thinking of doing with my front mount. What steel did you end up using for it and can you throw up a pic of it fitted? Thanks!
