My apologies if this has been covered before, but I can't find any reference anywhere.
I have purchased a s/h genuine Toyota Bullbar, I am told is from another Hilux within the 2005-2011 model range, to put on to my 2011 Dual Cab SR- 2WD. My main question is,....is there different mounting hardware between the 2WD and 4WD Hilux utes because even though we have gone most of the way to fitting this one, with all adjustment variation 'taken up' and the bar itself all but fitting into place,...it will NOT close up so as to be flush below the headlights, guards and the general 'flush look' that one would expect.
There is an average gap variation along the top of the bullbar and the body of the front of around 8 to 15mm that will not take up, no matter how tight every bolt is. Surely not far enough out for this bar to be the 'wrong model'.
It looks for all intents and purposes (and visually) as if the bullbar needs to go up about 10/15mm and tilted back about 10/15mm but hard as we have tried to do this, along with loosening and retightening all the nuts and bolts, the gap still refuses to close up.
The only thought that I can come up with is,.....IS there any difference in the mounting hardware between the 2WD and the 4WD because while this bullbar tries to 'fit like a glove', it still looks from the front to be sitting slightly lower. COULD this bar had come off of a 4WD and not quite squeezing on to a 2WD.
