Air-conditioner Clutch

Postby PsionicOz on Thu, 18 Aug 2016 3:23 +0000

Does anyone know how the Air Conditioner clutch comes apart in a 1996 LN106R Hilux?

The bearing has gone and makes a low growly noise when rotated.

There is a 10mm bolt that I can remove, I had thought that you could them pull the front off the clutch. However no amount of CRC, penetrene, pulling, prising or prodding will see it budge. I'm hoping it's not ceased. I can't see any holes or ways in which to grab it and pull just quietly.

I can only presume that this is similar to other Toyota air conditioners where once the front piece of the clutch removed then there's a cir-clip and off the rest comes from the shaft. From there it should be a down hill run. There is nothing in my Gregories manual and I can't find a you-tube video of my exact air conditioner.

Wondering if anyone here might know? Any help or clues gratefully appreciated !
