Has anyone done a mechanical pump conversion on their 1kz

I'm contemplating doing the swap I just want to know if anyone has any hints or tips before I tackle it

Cheers

I don't think it is worth it after swapping out the EFI pump and modifying the ECU. You're better to chip the 1KZ and get it tuned.

Greater tunability, increased power and in some instances better fuel economy

Is it any different to the 1kd guys running oversize injectors ,unichip and 30 psi boost ?

You want to run 30 psi in a 1kz engine? I'd advise against that idea.

Not personally done a 1kz just the older 5Le and it blew up after I sold it running 14 psi. The 1kd seems to have a lot stronger bottom end than the 1kz also the 1kd has a much lower compression ratio.

5le are reknowned for hanging rods etc at the best of times

Plenty of blokes running upto 27 psi In nz

And plenty at 20 psi standard turbo mechanical pumps with no coolers

As long as your air fuel ratio is right and your egts are safe I dunno why it will be a problem I was aiming for 20 psi with gturbo and cooler

Can't be any worse running 20 psi compared to plenty on 1kd running near 30 psi and higher though

Hey guys sorry to bring up and old thread but I have been looking into doing manual pump on mine also and have come across a guy doing them in Aus now. They are an original 1kz-t fully rebuilt and ready to fit and drive pretty much. Here is the link of anyone is keen. https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php? ... 7137597598
