Hey guys. The other day i started my lux and after 50mtts went into limp mode and check engine with vsc came on.I stopped the car turn it off and on again and same thing.I took off the batteries ffor halh an hour and everything went off.The car drove off as normal. This was the first time that happened and now im waiting for a scan gauge to come from ebay as Toyota dealer is away for summer vacation (whole company is closed).10 days ago i installed a german plug nd play chip that states that no factory safety programs are altered and also that gives 20-25 hp extra with 80-100Nm torque at the highest settings.Mine was still at the lowest setting.Untill the scanner comes what do you guys think that might happened?Car drives now as it used to.I took the chip off when limp came on.

If vsc came up I reckon unrelated to chip but I dunno for sure. Usually vsc is bad reading from a sensor - wheel speed or yaw rate sensor, there's probably some other sensors around the joint that effect it.

Wheel speed won't cause limp mode. I'd say most likely to do with the chip. Probably a cheap chip that just raises rail pressure

But how does cheap chip make vsc light?

I've never experienced limp mode on the hilux, but all other cars that I have, the trac/vsc/esc and engine light will both illuminate, as the vehicle enters a fail safe mode.

A cheap chip on a common rail diesel will just plug into the rail and trick the Ecu into ramping up rail pressure.
A decent chip, or a piggyback Ecu like the hks fcon-id, plug into each injector, and the Ecu, changing timing and boost pressure.
Even an expensive plug n play will typically raise rail pressure. However they will have better failsafes built in.
