Disconnect batt wait few hours then reconnect .. I had same issue but was a V6 . I also had to ditch the k&n filter and switch back to genuine toyota air filter

Had the same issue with fuel consumption with mine ! Had a 3 " installed and usage was even more. Should of left it all stock. Disconnecting battery made no difference .

Turning the head a bit left or right helps also. Only 15 odd degrees

Is caused by a intake pressure drop. Denso has spent heaps of time on r and d to keep the intake pressure at the same until ram air over comes it.

I've been told it's because the air has longer too travel now and by the time it gets too the turbo it's not enough I was told there is aye impella like you can put in your intake and it helps heaps bit don't know what there called vortex ????? Something ??

Safari snorkel made zero difference to economy in my hilux. Did you change anything else at the same time?

As for the vortex thing, I think they only work in combination with a energy polariser.

cant see the advantage of a hiclone, after the air has been through the turbo and cooler I wouldn't think there would be much turbulence left from the cyclone, but you buying one would benefit the manufacturer of the hiclone!

If it made a difference Toyota and every other manufacturer would be fitting them standard.

I found that when I put my canopy on (no other mods) my fuel consumption went up a bit, it could be a big part of it.

It'll be the canopy for sure.

It has been reported, running snorkel head backwards has many benefits.
No more dust & bug catcher
More responsiveness.
Better fuel economy.
I tried it & found a much cleaner air filter, that's it.
Maybe try it.
New DENSO Injectors are the go! New genuine parts.

Mate, did you end up having a win on fuel usage? I'm getting a safari snorkel fitted today, so am interested to see if anything helped you?

Cheers.
