I'd agree with that. (Don't ask me to back it up though :D )

I am a little puzzled as to what the benefits are of air/water intercoolers.

I am aware that water has greater conductivity than air but if, as has been reported in another thread, intake air temps of 25/35c can be achieved with a front mount air/air intercooler, how is using water/air with "coolant" temps at 85/90c going to be an improvement ?

with water to air u dont use water from ur motor radiator.

ive seen guys get egt drops of 100c using water to air
i have no room to run front mount plus if ur slow wheeling not gonna have air flow to keep it cool. where a water to air with good radiator setup with thermo fan will keep temps constant all day

Thanks for the link. I get it. Does seem like a lot of extra stuff though and there needs to be room for the I/C and the dedicated radiator, instead of just room for an air/air. How about a front mount air/air and a thermo fan behind ?? It would deal with the low speed issue at the expense of the fan partially obstructing air flow at higher speeds.

BTW, I haven't seen any mention of an aneroid/compensator in the thread. Is an aneroid part of the plan ??

im gonna run my radiator behind the cab with fan (that way it will stay clean and out of harms way), and have plenty of room in engine bay on top of motor for the water to air ic. and yes it is a lot of extra stuff to run a water to air setup but only heard lots of good reports about them and they cool better then air to air

at this stage im not gonna run a compensator, as that would mean getting a surf injector pump, unless there are kits out there to fit 1 to my injector pump i havent seen, ill just have it run a little rich off boost
