Never done one but worked on a few. Really depends on the quality of the work done. The newer the ecotec motor the better. Oil leaks and coolant leaks from the rear housing are common but they're an old tractor motor really. Not fancy but rarely stop. The main problem you'll have is gearboxes. The old hilux 5 speed just isn't made for that much grunt. Or is it auto?

It's a lux box 5 speed what would you recommend. G52 ? Also the wiring looks like monkeys done it. They haven't soldered or shrinks the joins just messy.

its only as good as the person who has done the work, unfortunately most that i have seen are terrible, As far as there engine is concerned, many things can go wrong, there old engines now and usually done 200000 plus kms, many ancillaries and sensors/modules are worn

I'm not sure of gearbox codes sorry but I'd imagine one out of a kzn or kun hilux would do. The kzn box is the same as a 100 series cruiser so should be plenty for you. I have no idea on what'd be involved but. Just focus on tidying it up first. Wiring etc. maybe even pick up a whole new look from a wrecked commodore and start over? Not real technical stuff these days.

Yeah I will tidy the conversion up banshee. And g52 is what people run with the 1uz conversion.

g52 is stock hilux box and not what people run with 1uz. you want a w series box, w58 being your best bet or if you can stretch the budget an r series box is best

Go for an R series box if you want a manual or run the commodore auto.
I went the auto in mine and its been great. There an old engine but they just keep going, can't kill mine.

Don't wast your time with manual, been there done that, they just don't last,
Most 4x4 wreckers will have the adaptor for the transfercase, a t700 is the way to go,
What axel set up? G285?
And tyre size
4.1 or 4.3 with auto and 33" tyres is a good combo, any higher and you'll brake brief to easy
You may want to invest in briefs rcv or longs (trail gear)
80 series hp for the front if you have a solid axel and you plane to use off road most are 4.1 ratio

Is it engineered if so when, as it's not like the old days, where you can reuse the
Original to register several time, so you will have to check with you local roads, and be prepared to have it redone so be prepared for 800-1500 for that, and changes in laws
Vic now has a 33" max tyre law passed last month and a 2" tyre rule, most hiluxs came with 29" 205/16 so a 31" tyre is largest you can engineer without doing a icv or axel swap ( marks is the only company in Victoria getting 35" passed with there portals, but there over $20,000 fitted with engineers)
farting is alot like jxxxxxg off. both provide instant gratification, but neither is a long term solution to the actual problem......................
