3lD hilux problem help??

Hey there.
Wondering if anyone could maybe tell me what's wrong with my 1997 3l Disel hilux.

It's been running funny for quite a while, ive done a couple of things i think that could fix it, but no luck.
Its running really really slugish and blowing quite alot of black smoke over 3g rev's.
It barely makes it to 3g rev's anymore but when it does all hell breaks loose out the end of it.
It does sound different to how it used to alot more ticky i guess.
Ive changed fuel filter and drained all the old fuel out of it in-case it was dodgy fuel.
There is no blue smoke only black, which is good. There is no trouble on start-up it idles basically fine and kicks over as normal.
SUGGESTIONS?? Would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Almost definitely be your air cleaner.

Maybe a new set of injector mate had ute similar probs and the injectors for those are relatively cheap and easy to change make sure new copper washes as well

thanks for the reply guys, i'm hoping it is the injectors instead of the pump..
why would you say its the air cleaner? as in the filter?
