Hilux 3.4L V6 Extractors & Exhaust ?

Postby robbo_000 on Tue, 03 Apr 2012 12:33 +0000

Hey all.
Currently looking into getting some aftermarket extractors & exhaust for my 3.4L V6 Hilux.
Just wondering if anybody else has done the same / similar & what was the result, was it worth it for performance, pricing etc etc?.

Thanks.

Ask Max mate, he used to have an 03 with the 3.4 V6. He might be able to shed some light.

Robbo,
the factory 5VZ exhaust manifold is very small....mainly due to limited space within the engine bay,

I didnt fit extractors to my previous 3.4 V6 but from everyone I have heard that has fitted a quality system to it, it really opens up the engine and allows it to perform.

The engine is very underpowered and has a lot of potential. Albeit it is a thirsty motor when revved out.

It has been known as the 1UZ without 2 cylinders as the engine design is very very similar.

As you may know there are TRD supercharger kits for them. Performance camshafts and I beleive theres a stroker kit too.....just depends how much you wanna spend at the end of the day.

I'd start with extractors, snorkel and K&N Filter then maybe play with an engine chip.

Hey lads thanks for the reply.

Will be doing some research to find out more about these cams & stroker kit.
I have looked into the TRD blower a while back & from memory it was bit to pricey for me haha.

Already run the snorkel & the filter so hopefully after I spend the cash on the exhaust mods I should see some difference & hopefully worth the time & money

Again thanks for the replys.
cheers

Hilux 3.4L V6 Extractors & Exhaust ?

Postby rustygilb on Wed, 04 Apr 2012 5:28 +0000

Only just seen this thread mate I have done the pacemaker extractors full 2 3/4 sports exhaust two months ago I also did snorkel and KN while it was in there

The difference is unbelievable definately recommend it u get alot more torque down low and the engine just breathes alot better u can feel it in between gear changes especially. And when Offroad the power always helps but u don't have to be over three grand to get ur power so it's alot more controlled

And when I can keep my foot off the floor( which is very hard because it sounds amazing) I'm getting almost a hundred ks more to a tank. Still very thirsty but alot better

Let us know if u go any further because I'll be looking down the Trd track when I get my suspension right.

And ps for my exhaust full system including extractors was around the 1500 mark but I was getting my clutch done aswell so they already had it apart so got it a litle cheaper.

Hi Guys,

I have just purchased a 2007 d/cab v6 Hilux, its a very clean vehicle and I was just wondering how much better the fuel economy is with the extractors and exhaust opened up? (this will be my selling point to my wife lol--- its worth it because you get better economy out of it)

Also what fuel do you guys use to get best results out of it?

Thanks

Tim

I did some mods to my 3.4 in stages. The headers and 2.5" exhaust made some increase in power, but it still lacked the low down torque I needed. I shelled out the coin and put the TRD supercharger with the URD kit on and WOW. Better everything.

How much did the headers and 2.5 exhaust set you back Getnhi?

If you didn't get the supercharger would you still think the headers and zorst are good result / value?"
