Postby Banger on Sun, 04 Sep 2011 11:38 +0000

Hey Fellas,

I have the chip it power module fitted to my truck i recently creaned all the crap out of my egr and put a blanking plate in. after about a week driving it started to throw the engine light on, error code was exhaust gas restriction, so straight away i removed the blanking plate that chip it supplied me and had the code whiped. now for some unknown rerason the error code will come on for a few days and bugger of and come back on?? is it possibe i have damaged the egr buy cleaning it or fitting the blanking plate??

i'm about to fit a EGR blanking plate to 07 hilux, apparently it has a small orifice to let enuff gas through to stop error code. Before i start , does it matter if i dont clean the EGR system, because effectively i'll be taking it out of the loop , also, how did you interrogate the ECU, did the mechanic do it?

hmmm.. no one else has reported egr errors from just cleaning.. I honestly think its related to the blanking plate you installed.. If I was you I'd contact Chip-It and see what they have to say..

What's the use of fitting an egr blanking plate if you have to put a hole in it?
