4.0 V6 exhaust and extractors

Postby fishingking7 on Sun, 05 Jun 2011 9:36 +0000

Hi,
I was just wondering if anyone has fitted an exhaust system to the V6 engine, and what sort of power increase and fuel economy it gives! Any advise would be great!
Thanks

Hi Fishingking,

Can't help you for the simple reason I want to do the same thing. I had a quoute that was pretty reasonable I thought. Forget the exact price but think it was $1200 and that was bigger pipe etc. I tow a caravan with mine and think anythings got to be worth a shot as I'm only getting 18 ltrs per 100 kms approx. :? I think the lack of tourqe under about 3 grand is the problem. Someone out there must have done it???? Good luck,

Timbo

Get the exhaust and the extractors, the rest will sort itself out.

Any change you can make to increase flow through the airfilter will help a lot too

I have an 06 extra cab just fitted extractors and exhaust from Matty at Monster Rides. $2350.00 fitted and also included a high flow washable K&N air filter, this set up has given a noticeable increase in power, not sure exactly how much as I have not had it dynoed. I have just returned to Alice Springs with approx 3/4 tonne of freight in the back and over the 3100kms returned 14 litres/100. 4 days after arriving back I did 1350 kms over a day and a half unladen and it returned 11.85 ltrs/100 both trips I was sitting on 100 to 105 Kms/hr. Hope this sheds some light.

Pacemakers I had cracked and then broke the flange off where it bolts to the rest of the exhaust system...not only that but the Monster Rides Exhaust feels like it has more power and torque down low. Just my opinion

Too much for the performance gain unfortunately. Unlike Pacemaker, but true I feel on these engines.

I also used the Pacemakers during product evaluation and found the monster Rides exhaust improved power by 22hp whereas the Pacemaker setup gave 6hp

If I was setting up an exhaust to use the factory cats and you only want minimal gains then Pacemaker is the go

If you want decent power and torque gains then its Monster Rides exhaust system for big power gains

I am using the MR system in conjunction with my low boost supercharger kit and made a run of 13.7secs at a test and tune last night, there is a lot of flexibility on the MR system and everyone comments how quiet it is considering the power it supports

Have you noticed an improvement in fuel economy with the MR system?

Really? Only 6hp??
I have that setup with aftermarket cats and found it was a noticeable difference, could it be your setup with other mods or??
I heard you get more torque from the pacemakers and others gave more power but not as much torque, does that ring true to anyone here?

  I think I just asked 4 questions in a row then
