Hilux exhaust

What's the best way to get the new hilux's sounding tough? With my last hilux just had straight through pipe from turbo.no muffler.does that work with the new ones? Do they get much turbo whistle??

Hey Phatlux,
I had twin 3" chrome stacks on my 2005 (current shape) diesel hilux dual cab/chassis, it was factory from the turbo to the cat (under drivers legs), then 2.5" from the cat to under the back seat, then 3" out and up to a swept branch between the cab and the tray and on to the stacks each side of the cab... no muffler, just the factory cat, don't think it sounded that tough but it had the best turbo whistle I've ever heard between gear changes or if you lifted your foot under load. Don't know if you can make them any louder cause the turbo knocks most of the sound down. Got a new hilux not long ago and I'm looking at a 2.75" Beaudesert system this time.

Phatlux, some of us with D4D's have the Humex 3"exhaust. It sounds tough and you can clearly hear the turbo whistle. Best of all, it improves performance. Check out this thread viewtopic.php?f=8&t=5446&p=87120&hilit=humex#p87120
I run the original Humex 3" system and am very happy with it.

hey folks, just wondering if the only advantage of stainless over mild steel is longevity? Is it worth the extra $? Do they both have the same sound? Is there much weight difference? Sorry if this has already been asked before?

Has anyone put stacks on the V6? I have extractors, hi-flow cats, resonator and muffler already, but need to route higher to prevent water entering. Got a MIG and a heap of stainless at work so was going to do myself, just add another resonator and have twin stacks behind the cab.
Anyone seen one before?

That looks pretty badass. I probably won't make mine quite so high, but it gives me a good starting point. Thank you! Just gotta get it right so as not be too high, but high enough to not asphyxiate the dogs in the back...
Should make the water crossings a little less scary next time.

Has anyone attempted stacks with the standard tub on a diesel?
I think it would look bad ass while climbing a rocky hill in low first and playing with the throttle and watching the smoke pour out.
cheers

lol just dont turn turn your engine off half way through the water crossing and you will be fine, %99 of the time
i know a guy he has a fairy new pootrol, he was doing a water crossing, got bogged switched the engine off (IDIOT), naturally as soon as he cut the engine the water traveled through the exhaust and filled the block, he got towed out, cranked the engine over when he got out, (again IDIOT) water obviously does not compress at all so as cranked it over the conrod just busted straight out of the block, destroyed the engine cost him a bomb
but the dick head wouldn't listen so f$@#&% him lol
