clean inlet ports on head 1kd

Postby IliasBayler on Wed, 06 Mar 2024 7:56 +0000

Hi ive read the egr clean thread but I couldnt see anybody go specifically into cleaning the inlet ports on the head. Would I be all good to spray oven cleaner after blocking it off and then flushing it out with a pressure washer. or do i need to be more gentle and use proper throttle body cleaner? any help is much appreciated.

Use a scraper and a vacuum cleaner to suck the crap out you don't want the crap in side as same valves will be open

Some chemicals don't go well with aluminium and so be careful what you introduce. If the oven cleaner contains exactly the same ingredients as the Recommended product (throttle body cleaner) but is much cheaper, then you might be OK.

I taped an transithose from the big one on the vacumecleaner. And started scraping gently. Remeber to turn the cranck so yhe valve you work on closes.
Had two pistons with low comp before i did this. Had no idea, but found out on the day I started on the major job at cleening the inlet manifold.
Used three four days with scraping and plenty of egr cleaner, throttlebodycleaner and a lot of gasoline.
