Does a leaking injector seat make a ticking sound like an exhaust leak

The short answer is yes AND no. It all depends on the type and location of the leak. Place to start looking is for signs of leak, splatter, spray or ANYTHING out of the ordinary near or around the injector. While the bonnet is open, have a quick look around the exhaust manifold as well and then have a good look at everything in between.
If you're not lucky enough to have any visual signs , then talk to a diesel specialist about checking and testing gear to buy & use.

Which year model and how many kilometers? What's the history of the vehicle? Lots of questions I know but it's very difficult to diagnose from a one-line posting.

In short... No a leaking seal is not necessarily the reason for a 'tick', it could be anything from a leak in the exhaust to a faulty injector but the first thing to let us in on is my above questions. ;) It's more likely to be an injector on the way out or just the normal cold diesel tick. If the mileage is on the high side, say over 150ks it's possible injectors. Hard to tell without a bit more information.

Its an ex telstra hilux . Now with 225000 klms . Car drives perfectly but sounds like an exhaust leak at the manifold gaske . Ive tried putting a shop vac into the exhaust and sprayed soapy water everywhere around the gasket and turbo mount gasket aswell as dump pipe gasket to no avail .
Im convinced its an exhaust leak but wondered if you can hear an injuctor seat leak and be misled towards an exhaust leak .
Its slowly getting worse and was only when cold and dissappeard when warm but has now become noticeable at all temps though hardly noticeable warmed up .
Approx 1000 klms since it started .

Got a "Bendy" mirror or camera?
Good look around EVERYWHERE with your soapy water will let you see a leak coming out of the engine a leak going "IN" however won't be as easy to see.
Soap bubbles (not so much water) will show a sucking leak, like that around an injector, but be quick so you're not sucking too much moisture into the pots.

With 225ks up its probably injectors if they haven't been replaced. Toyota can do a diagnostic check for injector values, not great cost... Get them to give you a report. If you know someone with Techstream software they can do it for you. Hilux always give a tick when cold, maybe you didn't notice it before. The tick is from extra fuel going through the injector when cold, disappears when hot. Search injector values or Techstream here and there's plenty of information there.
