Change diff ratio . Road speed effect on 1kd engine

Postby gulfcountry on Thu, 11 May 2023 2:50 +0000

Im trying to confirm if the lower road speed per engine rpm from changing the diff ratio to a lower gearing have any affect on the electronic engine management of a 1kd engine .
I have investigated this through a toyota electrical diagram and can see the the vehicle speed is sent to the ecu but I cant see where that info is used in the engine management systems .
My car is a 2010 kun 26 base model sr . No abs , no power steer , no cruise control .
Perhaps the road speed is distributed to other vehicle modules via the ecu for cruise control etc etc and no engine management functions use this info .

No. The vehicle speed is read from the gearbox and while it will throw an engine light if you remove that cable, there is no data collected that would impact on the operations of the vehicle.
I might be wrong.
