Post Remap Question

I have a 2014 auto Lux with 82,000km on the clock. Just got the remap down and yes what a difference !! Its about a 300km drive home and once when i pulled up to take it out of 4wd then took off the gearbox wouldn't go into 5th, I tried all tricks without luck, only way i managed was to pull over, shutdown for a few minutes then start up and move off, this time no issues getting into top.
Second thing is there is now a pronounced 'tick' from the engine, was a very smooth quiet engine before. Have talked to one Heavy Diesel mechanic and he mentioned that after remaps things do get loud. Should there be cause for concern ?
I did ring the mechanic just so it was logged, he said the remap should have nothing to do with the transmission.
Am i being too sensitive ro has anyone else had similar after remap ?

Remap doesn't affect the transmission. Why was it in 4wd? Are you sure it wasn't in 4wd when trying to shift into 5th?
The tick is likely to be increased fueling from the remap. It's worth checking the injector values with diagnostics.
Do a search for injectors.

I'd be taking your remap back for the noise. It has nothing to do with your gearbox problems, the extra power may have upset an existing problem though.

Still I gotta wonder why people bother with remaps.

Geez hiluxxury, remap is just an expensive form of go-fast stripes  or alloy wheels if you don't already have them ;)
Most people like to personalise their vehicles in some way, even if it's just a dashmat.

You should have been around in the 70s, with big dual carbies and loud exhaust ;)

I just noticed the original post says it's an auto... You sure it's 5 speed? If you had it floored it wont do 5th unless you back off... If it's a 4 speed there's no 5th, just converter lockup which also won't happen if you floor the loud pedal. :?

Thanks for the replies, it was in 4wd as just done an 80km gravel road run and always flick it into 4wd to keep everything working well plus good grab on the corrugations. Just seemed coincidental that it wouldn't go into top since I hadn't had that issue before.
Will follow up on the injectors, cheers.
Reason I got the remap was twofold since it was asked, first for economy and secondly for the improved torque towing the camper. Definitely noticed the difference initially and will find out with the van next week when we go out to the gorges.
Was around in the late 70s / 80s but my choice of fun then was two wheels, actually still have plenty of two wheels in the Adventure and Classic marquee and just entered into the 4 wheel offload version.

Ok, 4 or 5 speed auto? Not a good idea to run 4x4 at higher speeds, that's probably why it wouldn't shift out of 4x4.
That could also be why no top gear, the transmission module may have been confused, they are capable of artificial intelligence to some extent and there's a learning module which alters gearshifts depending on how you drive and in which mode 2 or 4x4.
You can get Toyota dealer to check injectors values using diagnostics and give you a readout, otherwise check the techstream thread (use search).
Nothing wrong with a remap in my world, as you can see I have a chip (before remap was an option).Gipsy tows 2.5 tonne caravan. ;)
Yep Gipsy has been there done that, 2 wheels and 4, as well as high speed on water. :D
