EGR Cooler delete?

Postby RussN70 on Sat, 12 Feb 2022 10:46 +0000

Gday all, I’ve recently acquired a 2006 SR5 KUN26R and noticed I have no EGR Cooler. In it’s place is a factory looking fabricated pipe. Extensive searches have been unsuccessful in identifying if it’s an off-the-shelf product or a custom job.

Similarly, I’m having trouble finding out if it’s a good modification, or if it’s a cheap fix for a previously failed EGR cooler. The ute also has a Provent catch can and (apparently) has previously had a tune, but there’s no receipt or evidence to support that.

Any advice on the pro’s and con’s of an EGR Cooler delete is appreciated.

Seems I have a Euro 3 engine which means no EGR Cooler  . Found an obscure YouTube video showing the same engine.

the 2005/2006 models don't have an EGR cooled, just a pipe (which is what you have). Better in terms of not caking up the manifold with carbon... still may need to clean EGR though....later models with the coolers are worse off when it comes to caking up the EGR and manifold...
