I'm new to all this and mot sure if this has been discussed previously, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 2006 4x4 Hilux SR
Model: KUN26R
Engine: 1KD

I have an issue with oil leaking from the engine through the turbo into the exhaust.

I initially thought it was a turbo issue. I got that fixed but the issue was still there.
Then I found out that the Cat converter was blocked from oil.
When my dad was changing over the turbo he noticed when he took off the exhaust manifold, 3 of them were dry but one of them was wet with oil.
He seems to think the piston ring is damaged from previous owner maybe overheating the engine, and now oil is leaking through.

I have to top up engine oil every 4,000-5,000ks

Has anyone come across this issue?
Any quick fix? Without having to strip the engine.
Any products that may help?

The engine vents through the turbo as part of its emissions control - all engines do this.

The venting gasses contain oil mist which is probably what you are seeing. Search here for the egr cleaning thread.

How much oil do you have to top up?

Others will know more than me, but the emission controls on the engine effect number 4 cylinder more than the others. This may be the reason that one exhaust port is worse than the other three.
Adding oil every 5000 kms isn't ideal, but perhaps the engine is worn after 14 years of work, especially If the vehicle has been treated harshly or poorly maintained.
Engine wear will certainly contribute to the oil loss. Excessive wear will send more oil vapour to the turbo.
If there's no evidence of oil leaking from around the engine, then the only way it can consume oil is through the exhaust system.

Lots of potential causes of engines using oil but as was asked... How much oil are you putting in?
How many kilometres?
Also it's worth considering the oil viscosity, with most diesels you don't need extra low viscosity oils unless you live in freezing climates, so 15w40 would be fine particularly with an older engine. Low viscosity oil will cause more oil useage as it is more prone to blowby and misting, which eventually gets into the crankcase vent and hence the EGR and turbo on the intake side.
It's also a good idea to change your oils at 5,000km so topping up would not be necessary if you change the oil at 5k.

Not sure what It’s called in english but if the valve stem/seal is bad. It should smoke at start. The oil at the top of the engine runs down the bad seal and down into the cylinder

Not really enough information to make a sensible diagnosis. There could be any number of reasons why any engine uses oil. It's normal for some oil to get into the exhaust and turbo.
