2011 blown motor
Posted: Tue, 28 Jul 2020 8:06 +0000Hi folks, Did a search thru the forums and didn't see anything recent. Went to start my Nov. 2011 D4D SR5 the other morning; big cloud of white smoke and a big clank. No sign of any potential problems. Turning the crank by hand, lots of resistance from one of the pistons. Motor has done 144K country kilometers. Catch can from 32K. regular oil changes, secondary fuel filter, throttle body regularly sprayed. Suspected injector fault taking out a piston.
What is the general thoughts on replacing/rebuilding the motor? I have budgeted 10K - mechanic said I'll be lucky to get it done for that. Does anyone buy low K, fully kitted out Hilux's with blown motors. Not a great time finiacialy for this to happen Located South West of WA.
