v6 4 litre 2010 hilux

g'day brains trust
i am currently trying to sort out an issue with a V6 4litre petrol hilux and need to pick your brains.....
this problem has been passed on from elsewhere but the story i have is..............

engine idles OK but gutless until about 70kph and then takes off like a jack rabbit

second hand engine fitted after previous engine failure
coil packs, plugs, MAF sensor, and throttle body all replaced before arrived here
upon plugging in G-Scan tool we can see an ignition misfire that cycles around all the cylinders in the left hand bank only. it is also intermittent.
My thinking is, to do a ECU reset as the engine may have been out of a Prado or Hilux with a slightly different emmisions setting

thanks guys...........open for suggestions here :D

I had a 2010 V6 that got written off so I should be able to find its engine number so you can see if what you got is earlier or later. I don’t think there is much difference in them from 2005-2011, even if they are from a Landcruiser rather than a Hilux. Possibly the O2 sensors in front of the cats may be an issue?

i worked in toyota parts for 30 odd years and the motors between models............prado, hilux and others have different tune and power output ratings.
thanks my next check is O2 sensors and have also just worked out the misfire is lhs bank only

They do but I think it is all exhaust and ECU tune only, the engine itself ie 1GR-FE is the same as far as I know from 2005-2012. Sensors may differ though. Mine currently has a LH bank sensor 1 issue, runs rough after the code comes up but settles. Doesn’t misfire though. I have to get a new sensor as soon as I can.
