EGR Delete

What's everyone's consensus on having the EGR deleted on the 1KD?
Seems that it can only be beneficial but would like to get opinions. Looking at having the ECU remapped to turn it off. Who has had it done, how much and do you see any improvements?

Thanks but that thread is mostly about blanking plates and nothing much on having it done through remapping. To me it seems this would be the best way to go but just wondering who might have had this done, who did the job and how much are people paying?

Does this seem like a good deal?

Quite few do both, blanking plate and get it switched through the ecu.

I've heard the diesel doctor do a reasonable price, plus there should be plenty of other garages that'll do it.

Crd automotive solutions (Rutherford) may be able to assist. :D

No doubt a better price as well!

As a sideline it would be interesting to hear from anyone who has deleted the EGR this way as to whether the rattle between 1700-2300rpm has been solved? If so we now know the rattle culprit. :?

I have fully deleted the egr. With a tune, the blanking plates and bypassed the coolant hoses so it’s completely isolated.
I can confirm this does not get rid of the mid range rattles. I have been told it’s the swirl control valves that caus the rattle.

Hey all,

My egr cooler has broken on the edge of the inlet pipe.

Has anyone tried to rectify by welding?

Is there anyone here who has removed there EGR cooler and would be willing to part with it??

Cheers,
Josh

switch it off in the ECU and fit a full blank on both sides of the cooler,
The total cost will be much less and your engine will thank you for it.

Cheers for the advice @davo94

ECU switch off... anybody in south east qld that can do it??? I’m on the Gold Coast?

I have seen resistors advertised to trick the ecu into thinking it’s too cold to open it... I’m a little dubious of things like these though, especially being from flea Bay

Can install plates myself.
