I've been crawling around with a torch in my hand for half an hour trying to find the Engine number on my 2KD-FTV engine but can't find it.

The only number I can find is on punched in at the location indicated by the circle in the photo. However, that doesn't seem like an engine number to me, it's in this format 1234567

Is that my engine number? If not. Where the heck to I find it?

Unfortunately my registration papers only state the VIN number.

Thats the number on the head.
Engine number is on the other side near dip stick from memory.

It was indeed! Thank you a bunch!

The Engine number was *really* hard to see near the dip switch. So hard that I'd to call my Toyota dealership, have them give me the engine number and with that in my hand compare it to the punched in numbers on the engine to see that they matched up.
