Engine overheating

Postby Johnlittlejack on Sat, 29 Sep 2018 12:27 +0000

I have a 2008 2.7 Hilux rwd manual. Overheated on me the other night driving down highway. Engine light was on. The heater stopped blowing hot air inside cab.

I replaced thermostat and water pump. Heater was blowing hot air again. Engine light disappeared. I flushed radiator. Then I filled system with coolant the engine light came back on and heater has stopped blowing hot air again and is over heating.

Does anybody have any ideas what’s going on?

Make sure the coolant is purged, turn on the heater and park nose up and let it run for a while to get the air lock out. You will probably see bubbles at the radiator filler.
Cheers Gipsy :D although I'm sure somebody will challenge that  even Einstein wasn't certain of his theories.
