DPF removal

Postby HiaceAdam on Wed, 26 Sep 2018 4:50 +0000

One of you lads must of cracked this.... I'm aware of the boxes etc you can buy to do the removal but I'm interested to know if anyone has managed to fool the ecu into thinking the DPF is in a normal state when it's actually gone? I mean it has to be a reading in and a reading out surely? And when the readings are out of range it does a burn off? Anyways I'm well over the bloody thing....

Is it possible to retro-fit the manual burn option Toyota are now putting in the updated model?
Actually, you'd think they would do a compulsory recall and fit it to all Hiluxes sold in the past couple of years, based on the frequency of problems reported with the system.

I'm going to be asking for it in a few weeks when my next service is due. A number of people have said if you ask about it, it'll be done. I'll report back either way.

Well from what I have heard do not get too excited about it just because you have a switch to turn it on, nothing will happen unless the engine management system decides it is time for a burn. NOT like a set of driving lights turn them on they are on so what is the point? We could ask some Landcruiser owners that have it to confirm that is right. :? Cheers.

Yep - have been following your posts with issues you have had with the Hiace
How long have Hiaces been fitted with DPF's? A commercial vehicle regulation?

Ok, so booked in for my 10k service and enquired about adding the switch and was told it needs to be approved by Toyota and the conditions the Ute works in have to be extremely unfavourable to DPF re gens. They only knew of mine vehicles being retro fitted with the switch.

They did mention the update for the DPF will be loaded while it's there.
