cleaning intake manifold

Postby krayzie on Tue, 17 Jul 2018 3:15 +0000

Hey Guys

i want to install a oil catch can and want to get the intake manifold and egr cleaned at the same time and in doing some research ive seen two ways of cleaning the manifold:

1. remove the manifold and clean with degreaser

2. as pictured below using some type of pump and degreaser with the manifold still attached to the engine

my question is, will option 2 do as good clean as taking the manifold off?

im looking at getting it done by a mechanic - not doing it myself

thanks

Check out the egr cleaning thread, think the chemical clean question has been raised there.
I can’t see it being as good, and would rather not push that much crud through the cylinder.

I found my Hilux to run so much quieter and smoother once I did the clean, I highly recommend it as at least you can see 100% whats in it and to make sure you get it all
