Urgent help please

Postby mrdontargue on Tue, 24 Apr 2018 2:44 +0000

Hi all,

Hoping for some urgent help!!!

Just completed the 210,000km with new oil filter, fuel filter, cleaned map & maf. Same as every 10,000km. I didn't do the secondary fuel filter (only do it every 2nd service).

Have done 150km since service and now I am in first gear at 30km hr going up hills....

Please help!!!

The only thing I can remember doing differently was not disconnecting battery when taking the maf out - would this kill it?

Thanks in advance!

2005 D4D @ 210K - check for cracked MAP filter or split vac lines
failing that check at any connectors you have undone

I don't have a way to check for codes... it's in NRMA, will they plug it in?

Filter and lines looked good, gave the filter another blow out. Took the neg term off this time and reseated the maf connector.

The only thing I was unsure on was the vacuum hoses going on the right way.. blonde moment, but pretty sure they were right.

MAP sensor filter line. There was another recent thread on the forum of someone who lost all power after fiddling under the bonnet, turned out to be a cracked/loose MAP sensor hose.

Sounds to me like the ECU thinks you’re not producing any boost making it run like a pig.

Hey guys, still no luck. Would appreciate any more help... does anyone have a photo of which way the vacuum hoses are on the map filter?

The map sensor is on the front passenger side corner of the intercooler. Just check all the vac lines in the vicinity.

Thanks mate I have cleaned it before. I'm just unsure if I have hooked the 2 hoses up to the filter the right way. The picture in the other thread has a slightly different filter and hose to my 2005.

Was hoping for a pic of who hose is top and bottom of the filter in the 2005.

Try hooking up the opposite to what you have now and see if it makes a difference, you’ll soon know.

Thanks mate, mine is a bit different. The filter will only go in one way, there is a notch on the filter that lines up to the bracket. it's the two hoses that I am unsure if they are on the right way or not. One hose is slightly longer than the other and not sure if it's the top or bottom of the filter.

If it doesn't do any damage I will swap them over and go for a run around the block.

Cheers
