My hilux uses 9.1 litres per hundred it runs quieter than my sons that only has 50000kmon it. please advise why it is necessary to replace, thanks.

I cant answer your question but I do know a lot of it was scare mongering from mechanics and injector business's that all seem to have left the forum because of a substance hitting the fan episode that really wasn't anyones fault in Australia but left a lot of them legally liable for a lot of potential engine failures.

Like a lot of things, it boils down to individual engines, luck of the draw with the 4 injectors it was built with, fuel quality over the years, operating conditions and so on.

Who do you ask for a legit answer?? Maybe Denso id guess, to find out the expected lifetime in perfect conditions.

Thanks for info guys, did egr clean and pulled inlet manifold as well, while had all apart checked ohms on injectors and all are reading .6 ohms, repair manuel has them between .85 to 1.05 ohms so looks like will need to replace injectors. Has anyone had baileys blue printed injectors installed and if so were they any good, thanks in advance.

Do you have access to a "Techstream" system. This will give you a readout of your individual Injection Feedback Value for each injector. Should be between -3 and +3 for each one. If it's outside this range then they are out of spec and probably need replacing.
Heaps of other details on the health of your motor also provided on the Techstream analysis.
Always use genuine Denso injectors to replace the existing. I went down the blue printed track and wished I hadn't.
Heaps of threads on here which cover this topic. Enjoy the reading.
PS. You don't have to go to the trouble of pulling injectors out just to check their condition. Removing them is a big job and should only be done if you have to.

Krat, thanks for the info, idont have access to techstream at present but looking into it,as for blueprint injectors thanks for heads up, there only $20.00 cheaper than new so will be looking into overall cost to replace via mechanic or by Techstream and do myself, 30 years as fitter should help me out there.

I have the late model 2005 D4D. I has just recently started giving a cloud of white smoke on start up after being parked with the front down hill. This is reported as showing that the injectors need replacement washers. The mechanic says that this is a four hour job and that i should probably replace the injectors at the same time. The engine has 280,000 km. About 170 k miles. And the injectors have not been done in the 60 ,000 that i have hadthe ute. The bloke whosold it to me said they had been changed in the recent past but did not have the receipts because they were with his accountant
I get a rattle on start up when the ute has been parked nose down. Drove 300 km yesterday and started up this morning as sweet as could be expected. Do i change injectors just because these have nearly 100,ooo km.
(60,000miles) If it is useful preventive maintenance then i will spend the $2200. Aussie dollars
