Flash me baby - ECU remap

Postby chuss on Thu, 05 Nov 2015 12:35 +0000

So.
Anyone got any latest news on the ECU reflashes offered by a few of the tuners out there?
Was thinking of having a 2015 D4D 3L done, tuner reckons he can get a safe 20% increase.

Had mine done picked up yesterday for a massive difference. 26kw and 70nm at the wheels was guesstimate from the data with 3 to 4 psi dependant on ambient conditions. Now need a HD clutch

ok cool
I've got mine booked in at Graham West Workshops in Adelaide next week
If I can get 26kw I'll be stoked!
It'll be on the dyno so I'll post up results here once it's all done

Ta Steveb.
......just sent Matt a PM so we'll see what he reckons.......don't want to spend mega bucks on performance....might pop for the 3" exhaust if its going to make some difference....

Recommended ... you will need 3" exhaust after re-flash anyway so do it now for santa then re-flash when the tech guys are happy with the outcome (let someone else test it  )
Cheers Gipsy :D although I'm sure somebody will challenge that  even Einstein wasn't certain of his theories.

well, car is still at the mechanics as I've been away for a while. I'm picking it up tomorrow with the results. So far so good. Car should make 130kw at the wheels, but I'm refining the tune now for bottom end torque for towing purposes. I'll try and get the dyno print outs uploaded.

Did some research into this and whilst the principle is great - be aware that they open up your ecu, solder to the board and then close it back up with sikaflex - not an easy hide from Toyota if you are chasing warranty on an "over fuelled" pot that melted or a boost related turbo failure..... they will be able to see it in the software and physical evidence of the ecu being tampered with.

Great for guys outside of warranty though!

some of the results I've been seeing are pretty average too. that might be ok if you're only pay 1200, but when someplaces are charging near 1900, you should expect better results

bugger!
Couldn't get the tune loaded. Something about Alientech system not being able to upload the baseline data.

Anyways, the car in stock form with 255/70/16 mud tyres managed a dismal 85kw at the treads on the dyno.
Have to wait till next week to get on the dyno again.

Chuss, did you ever get the alien tech to work? Were you using KESS v2? Through the obd2 port? Am interested to know the outcome of it. I've emailed the guys a bit for some info on the v2 master and details are a little vague at times. I'm interested in egr and dpf deletes for some Isuzu stuff and they reckon it will work on them, just a lot of initial outlay.

yes, got the Alientech to work. Ended up using ADP instead.
Didn't go through ODB2, directly through the ECU. I changed tuning workshop and am using turbo tune in SA.

Agri tune Australia are now doing through obd2 tunes, apparently 30% increase in power and 40% increase in torque, still well off what a piggy back chip is capable of, but I imagine this would be all some people would want or need.

Ok. What a headache with the previous tuner stuffing me around with dyno runs and failed ECU downloads.

Headed off to Turbo Tune in SA. These guys chucked in on the dyno, did an ECU dump and remapped for me. I predominately wanted the extra power for towing.
Managed 131.4 kw, stock exhaust, stock everything else. Running 31" BF Goodrich KM2s.

Link to their facebook post of my car on the dyno and dyno graph. Next step is turbo upgrade.
I've sinced chucked on the exhaust, so I might gain a bit more yet.
