Gturbo

Postby dano85 on Mon, 24 Aug 2015 11:00 +0000

Hey guys

Pretty sure my turbos had it, it's making a horrible noise (still working properly tho)
I'm tossing up weather to put a gturbo stage 2 on as I've been told it will work fine without a chip or computer and will give me the provision in the future if I want to tune it.
Will it make more power than the standard turbo, if so how much?
Will there be more or less lag? Or are there any issues it may cause in the future like leaning out or over boosting?

Cheers

The Stage 2 is a fantastic replacement option for the factory turbo - it won't overboost or change fueling at all on the factory tune but might come on boost slightly earlier (in my experience it does but it's slight)

No downsides to it at all, it even looks stock

I just put a stage 2 on with no tune. Haven't had any problems or noticed any power gains but it spools a lot quicker than the factory one. You can get huge power gains with the right upgrades and a good tuner. I have put a front mount intercooler, 3 inch exhaust and have 15% bigger injecters to go in. I've have been told once tuned will have over 200 rear wheel hose power and 40%+ torque gain so yes they can make great power.

bahaha, thats the spirit.

Dano, keep an eye on our BDG section in the sponsors page. I have a heap of testing to do before hand with 3 seperate chips, but we will be doing exactly what you''re suggesting in about 2 weeks, but i'm not sure your's will hold out.

If need be, we have a stg 2 on shelf if you need a fast solution. was meant for our lux, but we wont be ready for a few weeks, so i can replace it in that time.

Hey mate,
With the increase in power have you noticed any change in fuel economy? Is it chewing through it? How many km to a tank you getting?

Haven't got any power gains yet as it hasn't been tuned. From what I've been told should save on fuel. At the min it takes on average 100L to fill and i get 800km. So any fuel saving i can get, I'm all for it..

Ive been running a gturbo now for 4 years, have only done about 50,000kms on it though. I did have a couple of issues initially but they were sorted without too much drama. When i installed turbo at 110,000 kms i also fitted set of baileys injectors and 1KD front mount intercooler. I also fitted NPC clutch. I specified HKS FCONid with the turbo package but got talked into a plug and play setup. It caused issues and i promptly removed and fitted HKS myself and that was end of limp issues. The setup definately makes power. Ive been looking at getting a new 4WD but cant really justify it. This thing does everyting it needs to and I really want to see how long they last putting out 200 hp haha. I was just interested to see how the other guys went with similar setups over the last few years. Cheers.
