Don't get the HPD kit, get a 1kd performance or PSICO Performance kit. They use a PWR core, and have half of the silicon joins that the HPD kits do, leading to better efficiency. Similar money too..

Im told the PSICO kit is Cams Custom Fab's own label for their performance product, which is the 1KD kit anyways, I am sure someone else would be able to confirm or deny that though. I like both of those kits though and the Baileys CatchCan.

according to this a provent 150 is big enough for our engines.

Catch can after only 3 weeks. Hasn't even done any towing yet!

The can is about half full with a thick oil. Pretty disgusting. My 'Lux is an '06 with 126,200km on it.

Comparatively, my mate's 2015/16 Isuzu D-Max has had the can in for the same amount of time and is much cleaner. He also does a shit-ton more driving than I do, too. But, it's also a brand new car, so...

Might be worthwhile having a closer look at the quality of oil in that can... that looks like it has water in it? Should be brown/ black, not grey?

Yeah that does look particularly nasty in comparison to mine above.

Oil mixng with condensation I'd say. Mine is the same as that every time I drain it. Had the hpd can on for ages now can't fault it

nosfx, I was concerned as well by the oil quality but I've put it down to condensation and oil mixing, especially given the season. However, I'll be checking more frequently rather than after four months as I hadn't opened the catch can once during those months.

Hi Guys, just had a quick question regarding the catch cans. Would these void your new car warranty or would Toyota knock you back on any claims by having one installed and still within the factory warranty? Has anyone had their dealer install as part of a new purchase? Thanks

How are your hoses run? looks like the top one goes to rocker cover? Not sure if that is correct?

Now that my Hilux has done 115km the catch can is really doing its job.. To think that was destined for my intake!

I have the Provent on the Hilux and it works a treat. I have also used Flashlube version and it also does the same thing but in a smaller form factor. The drain tube is a huge plus over the removal of a cup style can.

Catch cans all do what they are designed to do more or less however I find the cheapie versions are just crap and either have fouling on the threads or their filter medium is rubbish.

I have had a catch can on all my diesels and even on the last two of my petrol cars.

The Hilux spits out around 50-100ml of oil each service on an engine that has done 180k. This is mainly town work.

I posted that youtube as its a different opinion on catch cans from a guy who has made a business out of specialising in 1kd repairs. Anth once played here on this forum - he was pretty hard to fault.

In his experience, an egr block is a better way of dealing with the soot buildup in you intake.

Have a look at his videos, some are about selling parts but most are about providing information to owners of the 1kd engine.

FWIW I too have been there done that with catch cans. I just have the egr delete now.

I’m running a HPD catch can.
Mine is definitely more sludge than oil. Not sure if this is normal or not.
I forgot to take photos of the catch can but here are the hoses.
1st photo is from the crank case and 2nd is to the turbo.
They’re still pretty blocked.

Thats a lot of oil from only 115km.....
Mine has done 3000km and I get about a shots worth of water from condensation. No oil...
