Check engine light?

Did you turn the key on with things disconnected? This will set faults.

100% everything plugged in? I have read on here countless times 'I have plugged everything thing'! Couple of posts later....'oh I found one plug not connected' usually the one under the engine cover. Otherwise you need to get it checked on the computer

P0400 fault code.
I have seen the valve body, the electronic one at the top, stay open and vent to the atmosphere.
You can actually here it. Compressed air can fix this problem.
The other thing that is very common, is that people forget to do up those two 10mm bolts that holds the EGR valve onto the EGR cooler.
Yes, I have left that plug off, on the intercooler side of the throttle body. Once only, of cause.

Hi guys all plugs and vacuum lines were definately connected back up. ! I just replaced my starter motor yesterday and truck started up in limp mode
I then turned it off and on and it was back to normal however still with engine light on.
Now it has been going back and forth in and out of limp mode?

Need to do some diagnostics with a diagnostic tool, dear fellow.

Sorry guys for no reply ! still need help! Codes read at toyota and found
PO400 and PO406

One of them cleared but one did not !
The code is something to do with EGR
The code wont clear on toyota diagnostic tool or by removing battery?
However because of fault code clears engine light is still on but truck doesnt go into limp mode any more! and has gained a bit of power!

The valve is stuck closed because a vacuum line to the EGR is blocked or leaking, or the 3 pin connector on the EGR valve (which detects the position of the valve) is not plugged in properly... Otherwise it may be the 2 pin connector to the vacuum regulator under the valve...

I would take off the intercooler and check all connectors by pulling them out and putting them back in again.

No James.
It's a process of elimination.
The fault code is staying in the DLC because the fault has not been fixed.
Have you changed out all the gaskets, to new ones, when you did the job?
Have you torqued all the bolts and nuts up to the right torque?
The two sets of 10mm, 13Nms, and the rest at 12mm, 20Nms.
See, this is when it's not worth it, not replacing all the gaskets, if this is the case.
It will probably be the gasket in between the EGR cooler and the EGR valve.

Catch you later, John.

As a sidenote: Goodness me John, I'm in complete awe everytime I look at a pic of one of your projects. The parts go in looking so new! I pride myself in always keeping my workspace clean, but what you do is a whole other level of clean. Much respect.. ;)

Comes with many years of working on these bloody things. Diesels, that is.
Dirty filthy things, they are.
Naturally, that's a clean EGR system going back on.
A tosser on another forum reckons I work slow. Like he does an injector job in two hours or something.
Well, I do work slow, and I am over working like a dog, when you don't have too.
I concentrate on getting the job right. Everything must be right, as much as possible.
It was funny, he turned out to be a parts interpreter.
Of cause, I don't buy anything off him. He sells Denso injectors.
If you install the new Denso injectors in your vehicle, you are just putting the same bad design back in your vehicle. Just my opinion.
Matt Bailey has gone to a lot of trouble to improve the spindle and needle design on these injectors.
He deserves our support, that's for sure.
This bloke also thinks he can take on someone with the knowledge of Matt Bailey, as well.
One of the greats in the diesel fitting industry.
These people shit me, and yes, they are usually full of bullshit.
They think they can hide behind their computers, but there is always the brotherhood.
Thanks, Marvin.
Catch you later, John.
