Good idle speed

Mass Air Flow sensor is reading high
When was the last time it was cleaned and how was it cleaned?
Any changes to the air box or air filter?

did replace airfilter on services but still factory parts, does have a safari snorkel now (quite wide. 4" ?).

Never cleaned MAF / MAP sensors.

Okay at 150K its overdue for a clean, check out the how to clean MAF sensor thread then read on to clean the MAP filter. Be sure to use the correct cleaner and dont directly touch or drop the MAF sensor
Do another data analysis after doing that.

Does the hilux allow for 'active compression test' or does the hilux lack sensors for that?

Other than that, how much boost pressure deviation is acceptable?

Did you figure out the issue? I (The Netherlands) see exactly the same behaviour. Must say it's getting colder outside ~6 celcius.

I've got 150k on the clock and just gotten my injectors renewed.


Hi, not yet. Today I cleaned the MAF sensor, and the idlle got back to normal, for like 15km, after that he got back to 900rpm, pm acumulation was 28%.

I have asked other Hilux 2kd-ftv owners, and they all said they never had a highidlle for regen.

Brand new air filter, mate.

So, when she idles normal (750rpm), the MAF is 5.5-6, when she goes up to 900rpm, MAF goes to 11-14.

The other day, she was idleing at 900rpm, so I remove the MAF, clean it, and after that she dropped at 750rpm, but for a few km, after that she got back to 900. So I just don't understand, it is a DPF burn or what the *duck ?


Could it be possible to do a burnoffs with only 900rpm instead of 1200rpm ? (manual gearbox).

Also, on techstream i dont have any fauld codes appear, but on monitor, I do have this:


EGR TEST (MAF) PASS MIn 5,79 Max 655 Test Value 6.93g/s

EGR TEST (MAP) Fail Min 100.01 Max 655 Test Value 7.18 kpa

I'm talking about the small filter up a the throttle body a small gray one
Is this a 05 to 15 don't have a DPF ???

I understand that some do in europe - which makes it particularly difficult for us here in Aus to diagnose.

Is your MAP filter cracked? Also what do the values look like when the engine is at operating temp?

Not up to date on Europe spec
If it has a DPF dose it need a clean out at a higher temperature ( just a guess )
Do you let it do the full burnoff with out turning it off

Yeah I from at least 2011 the 1kd was fitted with a dpf in europe to meet the higher regs imposed. We just get to breath crap here.

Well this thread was silent for a while.
I'm in Europe. most EU versions will have DPF and do burnoffs. However that's not a reason to rev the engine. It seems outside temperature is.

@andreimircea also posts around december / january (European winter with around freezing temps)

I'm about to do new runs as a dyno showed that my hilux only makes 102hp at the wheels, seems a bit much to loose. viewtopic.php?f=29&t=32819

Will crosspost techstream data here for archiving purposes.

EDIT: both ARE reason to rev. burnoff will keep the engine at or above 850 RPM, as would cold weather.
