Hi Guys,

Im new here and to Toyota, I need a bit of help. Having a problem with my car being heavily underpowered and very heavy on diesel when under load - I couldnt keep a 310kg boat at 120km/h if the road had a slight rise and i used a full tank towing it 420km.

I dont really know diagnostics but i think this points to my injectors being the issue.

Please advise.

Hi Ronaldo46, there is a reference post on the first page of this thread so you can compare vaules. From that it looks like your #1 injector is out of spec and the others are, while in spec, could be replaced. Generally replace all of them anyway.

Your SCV is also out of spec and needs replacing. Plenty of info here on the forum to do this. Also look at cleaning your egr and map filter while you are there as well.
I might be wrong.

Does anyone have a good baseline for a 2KD-FTV ? (2,5 variable turbo diesel with intercooler. 140 horses)

Hi all, I have 14.20.019 software and cannot for the life of me see how I can obtain the above information that members have posted.

Can someone give me a quick run through or a quick start guide? From what I can see, only NA will work (to select 1KD and + week and year vehicle made)

Random sucking / wooshing / low whistle / whooooot noise. Varies from ~2-10 seconds and goes away. Will come back every so often, more often than not. With that noise, the boost pressure spikes to max then drops back to normal as the sound goes away. No fault codes are thrown.

I did the active test of the stepper motor and it actuates fine with ignition on. I hear a slight similar noise above when the test is conducted with engine turned on. PITA to drop the circlip off the stepper and physically check. Turbo has a small amount of shaft play when I check on trip back from Darwin (192k)

I also have a brand new Denso SCV that I was thinking about throwing in as it is easier but the value looks fine.

Worst case is possibly buying some guys Mamba higher flow turbo and put that in. Reasonable price and is complete with stepper..... hmmm dunno.

Yeah, sounds like the stepper is sticking. Mine is fine on the active test but will overboost and throw a code when towing.

Your SCV looks fine. If it's the short version, it might be worth changing out - see here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iy79uqnrerY

Long version and is easy to get to compared to the stepper. Will sus it out later today and get that side done. His videos are great and subscribed a long time ago. Cheers

I can't find any info on the Mamba hi flow turbos. Has a Toyota housing 30160 and mine is the 30110. Item comment said it 'could' fit the 30110. Might stick with the exact part number and look elsewhere. Too many decisions!

Hi.
I've just changed injectors /new denso/.
With the techstream I have feedback volume for each injector +/-1 mm3, injection volume 7-8mm3 but Inj FB vol for idle is -5mm3. What could be the cause?

Hello everybody,
My questions is not about Hilux but a very similar 2007 Prado 120 with a 1KD diesel engine.
I own the car since it's first day. The fuel consumption was always around 11l/100km and the trip computer always showed that figure and it was also inline with manual calculations (milage driven per a full tank). About a year ago with roughly 280000km on the odometer I replaced the injectors with Denso 295050-0520 kit (according to the catalogs it's the OEM part). Of Course the new injectors were programmed in with Techstream. Since than the trip computer shows a much lower consumption of 8.2l /100 km while the real one remained the same (11l). I tried cleaning the EGR and the intake manifold. Still same... Plus, the engine started smoking a little but of black smoke on the first few hard accelerations of the drive.
How can I diagnose it with Techstream? What should I be looking at?

Ok, here are my values. The injectors are rather new but it has a puff of black smoke at start-up. I read somewhere that this is a symptom of a leaky injector seat possible on #4 (but can't find the reference again).

I know the SCV is shot but within spec for this data dump - its the old shorter style which is known for problems. The MAF could be cleaned and the MAP is a little low but does anyone else see any issues?

At least your injectors are near perfect.

What are the symptoms? I just did a quick scan compared to the reference condition on page 1 of this thread for the 1kd. Looks ok??

Thanks for the response. i just serviced the injectors last weekend. some people are saying that my pressure are low. does not match the target common rail and had asked me to change my pump. some had told me that my MAP sensor needs to be changed. some told me my EGR has to be changed. so im lost actually.

also how much difference is the pressure compared to the targetted pressure? what ive seen in this group is around 500 ish difference is still okay but mine is around 2000 ish

Have a look at the notes a fair way down on the first page of this thread and compare the values to yours. It looks ok from my quick look.

You could replace your SCV (which controls your fuel pressure) but it is within spec. Other bits are fine... an EGR clean is handy if it is dirty. There is a thread on this here somewhere.

Perhaps those people just want your money?
