What makes you immediately think blockage? Bad run of fuel or changed filter recently? Cause to be honest mate, those injector values are all fine, I wouldn't worrie. Vehicle hasn't even done 10.000 km's yet. Do a scan when your vehicle hits the 100.000 mark, then we'll talk ;) (provided everything goes smooth until then of course :D )

thanks marvin. that's all i wanted to hear. an opinion from someone who knows about these things. all iknow is 0 is perfect and eventually +/_ 3 comes round and injector is useless. just wanted to know if these current readings were o.k. at it's current low mileage. thanks again.
cheers, dave.

http://www.emanualonline.com/Diagnostic ... vAodjlIADw or this one mate. no viruses and support if needed. all done through their website. bit more expensive though. about $120.00 delivered to your door. but no viruses. also if you run mackintosh they can supply a conversion for it at a little extra cost.

as a matter of interest. can anyone tell me why it is that when checking injector feedback values. they are never the same twice. i have had injector readings change from minus to plus values and from plus to minus values. and values change by anything up to plus or minus .5 from one value check to the next. doesn't seem to make sense. all readings taken at the same engine temperature. any ideas greatly appreciated.
cheers. dave.

re above, cylinder 3 now shows -.6 and 4 shows +1.0 when engine hot. do i have a problem. only 9500 kms. checked info on this site and it says a plus reading indicates a blocked injector.
advice appreciated'

Dave, those feedback values are good. It's all sweet. The plus and minus thing, is just the ECM levelling out the horsepower in between the cylinders.

thanks mate. the time it took to get a response was making me think i had offended someone. mate i'm an old bloke (67) who has worked on and stripped and rebuilt early model vehicles as an amateur only, but modern vehicles are computers on wheels. i realised when i bought the hilux i was going to have to catch up with the modern technology and bought a techstream about a month ago. i am still trying to get up to speed with you young blokes on this stuff, so if i ask some dumb questions at times , please bear with me. i love this lux and intend keeping it for many years. this d4d engine is better than all the new range of idiot european engines being adopted now and is easier to get at for minor and major maintenance, so i need to understand it. perhaps my catching up explains my poor typing skills as well. will try to improve them as well to catch up with you blokes who grew up typing. thanks again.
cheers, dave.

Jeez Dave, stop apologising. I've been a mechanic 20 yrs, love technology and still manage to learn something every time I come on here or some other forums. The bloke that says he knows everything knows very little at all.

Yeah Dave, nobody's offended ;). Or looking down on you. I find it admirable you're still willing to have a stab at learning the 'new' tech. I'm with matt, stick around and I'm sure you have some knowledge to share yourself.

Had new baileys injectors installed 8000km ago. Checked feedback values today via Techstream and got the following.
Coolant temp 57
Number 1 0.1
Number 2 0.7
Number 3 -1.6
Number 4 0.1

Maf 17.95 Gm/sec
Map 89kpa

Does this look al right?

Thanks

Injector numbers are fine, but your MAF/MAP readings are a bit off. Have you also done the EGR, MAF and MAP clean?

Thanks for the reply was just concerned how number 3 was so much different than the others. Had the eve clean out when injectors went in. Did maf and map clean just the other day when changed the oil.

Interesting CSD. Similar scenario with mine after installing new injectors, cleaning EGR etc. All other parameters and feedback values where good but #3 was much more negative than the rest.

At the time yes - compared to the other values it was up to 10 times different from others much like yours.
My case took a very different course however - details of which I cant go into at the risk of appearing defamatory.
If you haven't already I would recheck injector code for that #3
Failing that call BDG
If that value doesn't continue to fall disproportional to the others then probably no problem
As Marvin says - look into MAP+MAF too
Post up a few other parameters like your idle speed - more data will help the techs diagnose

So called bdg today and they said it is fine. Will just monitor it I guess. Thanks for the reply Deadlybeast.
They said it is not uncommon for one to be different by that much to the others. Who knows!
